Recovery Court/Mental Health Court Case Manager

This position is located within the Marshall County Government Probation Office. This position provides comprehensive case management services to adults who are involved with the criminal justice system that have a substance use disorder and/or diagnosed mental illness. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in either criminal justice, psychology, social work or related field, preferred. Court experience and experience working with adults experiencing mental health and substance abuse disorders. Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills. This position is located within the Marshall County Government Probation Office. This position provides comprehensive case management services to adults who are involved with the criminal justice system that have a substance use disorder and/or diagnosed mental illness. Illustrative Examples of Work
- Perform intake interviews with those entering the program.
- Determine needs and formulate a case plan to address both criminogenic and non-criminogenic needs as they present.
- Work with clients to address their court requirements and case plan though in person meetings.
- Make referrals to community mental health agencies, substance abuse treatment agencies and other community resources.
- Work in collaboration with community resources to achieve treatment goals identified for the client.
- Maintain knowledge of best practices in supervision and treatment of clients diagnosed with mental illness and/or a substance use disorder.
- Engage in ongoing training (both self-led and formal) to better understand the NADCP Best Practice Standards, HIPPA, CFR, mental health disorders and treatment, substance use disorders and treatment, trends in substance abuse, etc. This includes the mandatory attendance of both state and national training courses as directed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Necessary Requirements of Work

A combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of judicial proceedings.
- Knowledge of misdemeanor laws.
- Knowledge of treatment options available in our community and surrounding area.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- On-call 24/7.
Necessary Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with an F endorsement
- Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
